The Stallion
Concorde is a world famous keur preferent stallion. He is one of the youngest stallions ever to be awarded the “preferent” title from the KWPN due to his long list of National and International offspring. He was selected in 2004 to be awarded ‘KWPN Horse of the Year’. To his accolade he has approximately 30 approved sons and is currently the only KWPN stallion to be fully approved by Holstein. He follows in his famous fathers footsteps (Voltaire), being a world renowned, sought after stallion.
Concorde’s immense ability to produce talented horses is obvious, in the last three years at the world breeding championships for young horses, Concorde was the stallion with most offspring qualified. He has proved himself as a top producer of international sport horses e.g. Conquest II, Kathja, Audi’s Jikke, Isabella, Larino and Viktor proved themselves at the very top at Grand Prix level. Four of his progeny were at the World Cup Finals in 2003 these were; Marius Claudius, Conquest, Viktor and Jikke.
Concorde successfully competed himself at international level with Jos Lansink. Their successes included winner of the Grand Prix of Nordrhein-Westfalen at Aken, Champion of the Netherlands 1994, 2nd in the Grand Prix of Amsterdam, 2nd Darmstadt, 2nd Lanaken, 2nd Helsinki and 2nd Gothenburg.
Pedigree
Concorde’s sire is the now deceased, highly impressive breeding stallion, Voltaire. Voltaire in 1996 was ranked number 2 in the World Breeding Rankings for Show jumping sires. Voltaire is a truly dual-purpose sire and as such stands high in both dressage and jumping indices. Due to his high-ranking position, he was awarded “keur” and “preferent” titles at an early age. Voltaire is the sire of many International competition horses. The success of his progeny has made this stallion a legend in his own right.
Furioso II, another very famous sire also features in Concorde’s pedigree. He produced no less than 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved sons. Furioso II has had an immense influence in the breeding industry all over the world. His full brother is the stallion Mexico, whose most famous son Le Mexico who appears frequently in Dutch breeding and features in the pedigree of many successful show jumpers.
Gotthard, another feature in concordes breeding, has been deceased more than 15 years but has remained a legend in German sport horse breeding. Gotthard, has since become the name that represents the Hannoverian show jumper.
Concorde’s dam, Flyer, is by the legendary stallion Marco Polo, also a highly influential stallion in Dutch breeding and jumping. Flyer has bred no less than 6 offspring that have become International show jumpers. Flyer is related to the International show jumper Vivaldi, which with Melanie Smith won speed horse of the year 1980.
