The Stallion

Donnersohn is one of the best bred dressage stallions standing in the UK today. He combines two world renowned dressage stallions of the century, the now deceased, highly sought after Donnerhall and the state stud stallion, Weltmeyer. Both renowned as exceptional producers over the last decade, siring some of the best horses in the world today.

Donnersohn has been successful throughout his career. As a foal he was crowned champion at the Hanoverian show in England. Then, as a three year old he attended Hanoverian grading and was again awarded champion. A year later, he attended the national Dressage Championships and won reserve champion 4 year old dressage horse. As a 5 year old he returned and went one better, he was champion 5 year old and reserve supreme champion at the Badminton Young Dressage Horse Championships.

Donnersohn sires exceptionally well developed, attractive and multi-talented youngsters. Although dressage bred and producing offspring with exceptional movement, he has also sired top jumping talent. His son, Donnergott was British 3 year old loose jumping champion, first reserve in the open novice at the National Dressage championships as a 5 year old and qualified, first time out, for the summer regionals at medium level as a 6 year old. Truly multi-talented! His offspring achieve high prices, for example - Double Take, was one of the top priced foals at the Equilibria auction and O'Donovan, a coloured son of Donnersohn and now a licensed stallion, sold as a foal for £10,000.

Pedigree

Donnersohn's sire, Donnerhall is probably the most successful and influential stallion in dressage breeding today. A top producer and a top competitor, his line is highly sought after all over the world. The stallion, now being deceased and his frozen semen of poor fertility, has made the Donnerhall breeding line even more precious. Donnerhall is sire to some of the best dressage horses in the world today.

Donnersohn's dam Witsun is by the sensational, Hanover state stud stallion, Weltmeyer. A legend in his own right. He won stallion of the year in 1998 and is a phenomenal sire of top dressage and olympic medal winning horses.

Witsun herself was a successful dressage horse successfully competing at Prix St George. She is full brother to the Grand Prix dressage stallion, Longdean Westminster. Witsuns pedigree is further supported through her dam. A multi-champion broodmare by another well renowned dressage stallion Golfstrom, who was a dressage team gold medallist.

Special notes: Having used this stallion, I have found him to have excellent fertility. Over the 2005 and 2006 season I have put three of my mares to him chilled, each took first attempt! He sires elegant attractive horses with affectionate trainable temperaments. His foals have fantastic free flowing movement, superb type and fabulous conformation.
